Oxalis Violacea
Violet Wood Sorrel
Native to much of the United States and parts of Eastern Canada it is listed as a threatened or endangered species in 5 eastern US states. It has 3 part heart-shaped leaves that make them look like clovers or shamrocks. All parts of the plant are edible including the bulb. Native American Apache, Cherokee, Omaha, Pawnee and Ponca peoples have use this plant as a traditional food source. It has a sour juice and is a nice addition to your salad.
